Mouser
Its official. Its time to start putting on those nifty electronic "Parental Controls" on the PC. Time to lock down which sites are accessible by young surfers. Logan has proven he can surf the web on his own.Its been a long time coming - sort of. He's been learning to use the mouse when we play with his Thomas and Friends game. There are a few segments on there that he can do on his own so we let him try to mouse about while he sits on our lap. Sometimes he does it and other times we're invited to intervene.
About a week ago we discovered a new game on the Disney site. Its bowling with Lilo and Stitch. Stitch being the ball. To play the game you repeatedly hit the space bar to line up your roll and set speed. Logan, for what its worth, loves the space bar and quickly figured out what to do with this game. He plays it on his own, sitting up on a lap, until he gets bored and then someone else has to take over. The idea of playing on a web site on his own though started to sink in.
Fast forward to today. Today we had been on the new Thomas and Friends site when I had to stop play in order to feed Megan. Logan decided he would continue on his own. He climbed up on Papa's desk chair and grabbed himself the mouse. He maneuvered the cursor on his own to the blue 'T' in a yellow circle on the homepage and clicked it. Sure, it took him a few passes before he got it lined up right, but once he saw the little arrow become a hand he hit that left mouse button with a vengeance. On the next page he started at his options for a bit and then, remembering what I had done each time we went to the site, he clicked on the yellow circle with the blue 'T' on the right side menu. That led him where he wanted - the page that has three short video clips from the new shows. He found the one he wanted to watch, floated the mouse around the pad until he got the cursor just right then clicked and sat back to watch his clip. When it was done he clicked himself the yellow train with the word "Back" on it and selected another clip to watch.
The way he likes to volunteer to pay for things, I think it might be wise to remove all cookies that have stored log-in info at etailers - especially those that have auto pay options. ;)
