Big steps

Logan headed back to school on Friday. This makes us very happy because we finally stop answering the question, "Is it time yet? Can I go to school?" It makes Logan very happy because he very much going.

His class has a pet - a guniea big named Bella. We now stop in on Sunday mornings to say hi to Bella so she's not feeling so lonely over the weekend. His class has six assigned 'jobs' every school day. He's anxiously awaiting the chance to be counter - the job he remembers from last year. Over the course of the year he'll also be weather helper, line leader, door holder, napkin hander-outer and something else I forget.

The very next day Logan began his first foray into organized sports. He very proudly raised his hand and answered the very first question the coach asked the boys - What is the first rule of soccer? To which Logan replied "No hands!"

He had a blast during drills and held his own amongst a mix of first-time players and boys that played last year in the 3-year old league. He even enjoyed the first half of the game. His team has 10 boys on it. They play another team of 10 boys -- four against four. This means 6 kids get to sit on the sidelines as they rotate players in and out every few minutes. Logan did ok the first sit. Not so much after that.

We talked about it later - what was fair and not to the other boys. About good sportsmanship. About why his team had the yellow jersery's over their standard 'uniforms'. We talked about how even the pros rotate in and out of the game for 'breaks.'

He'll get there. Hey, at least he offered up his towel to his teammates and used it to wipe some kids head off. :)
