All About the Boy!

My time flies

It's been too long since we've updated this blog. Of course much has changed with Logan as it will with any growing boy over nearly 6 months. To start he's now an official "registered" kindergartener. To him, this means he's a big kindergarden student in all ways that matter. Apprently the few weeks left of preschool are simply a formality.

The boy that began sounding out words and picking out a handful on sight is now an offical reader. He loves to read. He takes great pride in reading stories to us and to Megan - although the later is often too impatient to sit through her brother's early-reader slow movement through a page. His comfort level with words grows each day and with it comes his willingness to tackle bigger words in more formats. It's such a treat to see him glow with pride over each successful sentence he gets through.

Logan is nearly five and in full birthday-party-planning mode. He can't wait to host his friends at the house for an afternoon of cake and play. His birthday wish-list is loaded with nothing but Transformers. He can tell you anything you want to know about any of them and while he has a healthy collection, he'd happily take dozens more.

He's settling into a calm, cooperative kid that likes to pitch in and help as much as he's able. He's a compassionate boy that is quick to defend whoever he thinks needs it and to cuddle the rest of us. His excitement over making other people feel good about themselves is heart warming.

He loves to learn - a passion we pray he holds on to throughout life. At the moment, Logan is fairly locked into his future career path. For the last few years he's been focused on being "Dr. Logan." Today he realistically understands that means "college, then doctor school-which is called med-school, then working at the hosptial for practice." With the empathy he seems to display readily and the way he does like to make others feel better, I have a feeling he'd be a fabulous doctor with great bed-side matter. However, more than patient interaction, Logan sees his medical future in research. He will often say that he's going to find the cure for peanut allergies (to help Megan) and sugar allergies (for Grandma's diabetes.) Now, if that doesn't sum up the sort of fantastic kid he is, I'm not sure what does.
